Just 6km from dist hqrs, 2 hamlets lack basic facilities
At a time when the Narendra Modi-led BJP government aims to build smart villages in the country, replete with healthcare, education and agri facilities, two hamlets here —barely six km from the district headquarters — still rue the lack of basic amenities such as power, drinking water and road connectivity.
With no proper roads to reach the thoroughfares, people living in Anipur village have to find their way through agri fields. The villagers had submitted memos to the administrative officials and public representatives time and again, demanding concrete roads, but to no avail.
At present, the villagers travel 1.5km to the ammunition depot to find transport. The situation gets worse during monsoons, when the fields get flooded.
Mangtu Singh, a resident of Anipur, said despite pleas, the state governments, over the years, have not considered our case. We have appealed the local MLA and minister of tourism, Krishnendra Kaur Deepa, but all of our efforts turned futile.
The sarpanch of Madoni, Laxman Meena, said a quotation letter has been sent to local BJP MP Bahadur Singh Koli in this regard and the people here hopes for a response from his end.
Tourism minister Krishnendra Kaur Deepa, however, said villagers have never handed him any written letter. “The construction work is pending there as the villagers have encroached the proposed land for the road.”
The villagers, on the other hand, alleged that the local MLA had given them false assurance before the election and never bothered to look back after that.
“A team of village youth met the Deepa several times in this regard. But she only gave us assurances,” said Lakhan Singh, the block development officer.
All 50 household in the village also suffer from acute water crisis. Although the government had sanctioned water supply to Anipur, people living in the neighbouring Kasoda village has blocked supply to the village. The residents have to buy water from the tanker of ₹500.
Hathiyakhar is another hamlet under gram panchayat Bhesena in Dholpur, power and connectivity eludes the villagers.
Block development officer Lakhan Singh said people are migrating to cities owing to lack of basic facilities here.
“We have brought the matter to the panchayat secretary’s attention. We will survey the area and then develop basic amenities in village based on the reports” he said, adding that the villagers are ready to return the place is endowed with power and road connectivity among other amenities. A government primary school in the village is lying closed for lack of students and despite 40 houses, only few people live in Hathiyakhar at present, the BDO said.
