Aparna Yadav, the younger daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, called on chief minister Yogi Adityanath at his residence, the VVIP guest house, on Friday.

This is not the first time that Aparna has met Yogi Adityanath. She had been visiting the Gorakhnath shrine in Gorakhpur in the past too, as a devotee.

Yogi Adityanath is residing at the VVIP guest house as the official residence for the chief minister, at 5 Kalidas Marg, is being readied for him.

Aparna’s husband and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son, Prateek Yadav went together to meet the chief minister.

“It was a courtesy call and Aparnaji also discussed gau-sanrakshan (cow protection) with the CM,” said a spokesperson of Aparna, who answered her phone.

Prateek Yadav and Aparna are also known to work against cruelty to animals and work for animal protection.

Aparna had lost the Lucknow Cantonment assembly constituency in the recent UP Assembly polls to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi. A man has been arrested in Noida for allegedly posting “objectionable” picture of UP CM Yogi Adityanath on social media, police said.

Rahat Khan was arrested in Dankaur area on the complaint of Hindu Yuva Vahini, a youth outfit founded by Adityanath.

“A case has been registered and accused arrested,” said Dankaur police station in charge Rajpal Tomar.
