Health officer held for graft sent to judicial custody
The health department’s district programming manager, Nabhendra Singh Bhati, was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court on Wednesday.
Bhati was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh on Tuesday evening.
Giving detailed information about the incident, deputy superintendent of ACB in Alwar, Saleh Mohammad said that Dr Hari Mohan Saini of Vedanta Hospital in Rajgarh had complained to the bureau against Bhati. Dr Saini told the bureau that he had applied to the office of chief health and medical officer (CMHO) for an agreement under government’s Janni Suraksha Yojana. On April 5, CMHO Dr Punkaj Gupta and his brother Amit Gupta suddenly came to his hospital and took away the attendance register charging the hospital authorities of irregularities and asked Dr Saini to meet the district programming manager in Alwar office over the issue.
