20-year-old man was shot at after a brawl at a crowded pub in south Delhi’s Saket late on Sunday evening .

Police said that the youth was thrashed before being shot at right outside the pub.

The victim, Anvesh (name changed), from Delhi’s Madangir, was shot at thrice, police said. One bullet hit him in his abdomen, but Anvesh survived. Doctors at AIIMS later operated and managed to remove the bullet from his body and his condition is stated to be out of danger.

Anvesh later said he was not traumatised by his bullet injury, but was more concerned about revealing about the attack to his parents. “I don’t want my parents to know that I visited a pub and got shot after a brawl,” he told HT, a day after being discharged from AIIMS trauma centre.

After being discharged Anvesh tried to keep a distance from his parents and has been taking extra care to conceal his bandages . He has , however, confided about the incident to his elder brother.

Anvesh, police said, studies in Class 12 at a government school. His father owns a furniture-manufacturing unit.

The tiff between Anvesh and the accused, 21-year-old, Bhanu Singh, started around 5pm inside Club London pub located in Saket District Centre. They had gone to the pub with their friends.

“A singer named Abaaz was performing at the club that evening. There was a lot of crowd and we were jostling for space while dancing,” Anvesh told HT. While dancing, Anvesh happened to accidentally hit another guest , triggering a verbal spat between them. The problem appeared to have been sorted out at that moment. Later, when Anvesh was leaving the pub the accused, Bhanu, allegedly followed him . “He again picked up a fight with me and began trying to punch and kick me outside the pub. When I fought back, he pulled a gun from his pocket and fired three-four rounds at me ,” alleged Anvesh.
