3 kids burnt alive as house catches fire
Three children died after the hut in which they were staying caught fire in Swaroopganj area of Sirohi district of Rajasthan on Saturday afternoon.
The police said the incident happened when the children -Chiku (2), Ravi (3) and Tika (6 months) -- were inside the hut and their parents had gone out to the field for work.
“The children were playing inside the hut when it caught fire, presumably from a piece of burning coal from the oven. The roof of the hut was made of straw and it caught fire within seconds,” said Bhagwat Singh, station house officer of Swaroopganj police station.
By the time their parents reached the hut, it was completely burned and the kids were charred to death, the police said. “We are trying to determine the cause of the accident and investigation is on,” said Singh. Officials from seven police stations in Jaipur (west) district raided Girdharipura slum in Karni Vihar area on Saturday morning, arrested 14 suspicious people and confiscated several two-wheelers and eight gas cylinders.
The raid was conducted by officials from Karni Vihar, Bagru, SEZ, Vaishali Nagar, Vishwakarma and Jhotwara police stations.
“We had learnt that illegal activities were taking place in the Girdharipura slum before the decision to raid the place was taken. We have arrested 14 suspicious persons from the area,” said a police official. HTC
