Yogi govt orders 10 inquiries into SP schemes in 10 weeks
many as 10 inquiries have been ordered into schemes launched by the previous Samajawadi Party regime in the twoand-a-half months since Yogi Adityanath took the reins of the Uttar Pradesh government.
The state government recommended a CBI probe into an alleged scam pertaining to the Delhi-Saharanpur-Yamunotri highway project on May 16. The Uttar Pradesh State Highway Authority (UPSHA) had lodged an FIR against four officials of a Hyderabad-based construction company for impersonation and fraud almost three months ago.
Among the other probes ordered by the Adityanath regime is one pertaining to the previous government’s ambitious Gomti riverfront project, for which a three-member committee headed by former Allahabad high court judge AK Singh has been formed.
The judicial committee has indicted then chief secretary Alok Ranjan and ex-principal secretary (irrigation) Deepak Singhal for irregularities in the project implementation.
Former irrigation minister Shivpal Yadav defended himself by stating that “everything was fine” with the project as long he was heading it.
Another investigation ordered by the Adityanath government pertains to alleged irregularities in land acquisition for the AgraLucknow (Access Controlled) Greenfield Six Lane Expressway, which connects the popular tourist destination with the state capital. In this case, the Yogi government has asked district magistrates associated with land acquisition to conduct the probe.
Other Akhilesh-launched projects under the state government’s scanner are the Yash Bharti awards, the Samajwadi pension scheme, distribution of ration cards.
