The requirement of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides should be assessed now for their easy availability to farmers

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje asked district collectors on Thursday to ensure utilisation of funds in the public interest. “Every single penny of the hard-earned money of the public should be used,” Raje said while watching the presentations of departments on the second day of the Collector-SP conference.

She directed collectors to put boards on allotted funds outside gram panchayat buildings. “Villagers will know about the funds allotted to their panchayats; this will bring in transparency in development works,” Raje said.

“The state government is running many schemes for the welfare of the poor, backward classes, women, youth and all sections of society; huge amount is being spent from the state exchequer on these schemes.”

Raje wanted Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) officials to go to districts and hold meetings with in-charge ministers, collectors, firms and public representatives. She directed the officials to make action plans to complete works in their second and third phase.

The chief minister asked collectors to make cities free from polythene and open defecation. She told them to monitor the progress of works on drinking water, sewerage, drainage and of those done under RUIDP, Smart City project and Amrut Mission.

She told officials to meet Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana targets on time. Expressing concern over vacant houses made to shift families from slum areas, Raje asked officials to speed up rehabilitation of slum dwellers.

She directed collectors to inspect residential hostels run by the social justice and empowerment department. “Children of those communities that require government help stay in these hostels. Arrangements in these hostels will improve only with inspections.”

In its presentation, the agriculture department said Mukhyamantri Beej Swavalamban scheme will be started for farmers producing quality seeds; the scheme will be first run as a pilot in Kota, Bhilwara and Udaipur agriculture divisions.

Raje directed officials to associate more farmers with the scheme. “The requirement of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides should be assessed now for their easy availability to farmers, so that they can get the maximum out of the monsoon season.”
