The Kota City police have arrested a sacked constable of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) for raping a government school principal.

The accused, Jaikumar Sharma, has eight criminal cases lodged against him, including rape of a student in 2013.

Circle inspector, Kunhadi police station, Kota, Shrichand Singh said that the victim has lodged an FIR against Jaikumar Sharma on May 14 in which she alleged that Sharma had followed her to her house in Kunhadi area on April 10 when she was returning from Chambal Garden after meeting her office colleagues.

When she reached home, Sharma introduced himself as a police constable and threatened to tell her husband and family that she has been meeting a man at Chambal Garden.

Jaikumar took the principal to a deserted house in Kunhadi and raped her. The accused also snatched a gold chain from her and dropped her near her home.

Shrichand Singh said that the woman didn’t tell her family about the incident as she was traumatised but when her health started to deteriorate, her husband asked her and she told him about the rape. It was then that they filed an FIR under section 376 (rape), 384 (extortion) and 323 (manhandling) of IPC.

Police have produced the accused before the court which has sent him to Kota Central Jail.
