Doctor removed after ex-MP’s kin death

-

State health minister Kalicharan Saraf removed a senior physician and nodal officer of swine flu department of MB Hospital for medical negligence.

Dr Mahesh Dave was removed on Saturday for his alleged negligence in treating a patient, Vandana Sharma, resulting in her death. Vandana was former MP BhanuKumarShastri’ssister-inlaw. Saraf also ordered for a criminal case to be registered against Dr Dave.

After Vandana’s death chief minister Vasundhara Raje had ordered a thorough probe into the matter, during which Dr Dave was found guilty.

Saraf said that despite having symptoms of H1N1 all her reports came negative during her treatment in Udaipur. She was later rushed to Ahmedabad and there she tested positive for swine flu.

Dr Dave, however, denied all allegations and said that he was suspended without getting a chance to explain himself. He claimed that he is not aware of the investigation into the matter.

Vandana died during treatment at MB Hospital in June.

A general body meeting of Rajasthan Medical College Association was held at MB hospital. During the meeting, Dr Dave was relieved from the institution.

All the doctors later met the principal of RNT medical college Dr DP Singh and demanded that the relieving orders against Dr Dave should be immediately withdrawn.

They also warned Singh that if their demand was not met then they will go on an indefinite strike. HTC
