Mount Abu gets 773 mm rain, highest in state

Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s lone hill station, in Sirohi district received the highest rainfall in the state—773 mm —sparking fears of a cloudburst.

The state has received 233.7 mm of rainfall between June 1 and July 23, which is 20% more than the state normal of 194.49 mm. According to the water resources department, places in Sirohi, Jalore, Pali, Udaipur and Ajmer districts have received between 100mm and 773mm.

According to the department, apart from Mount Abu, Reodar, Sirohi, Pindwara, Abu Road and Sheoganj stations in Sirohi have received 403mm, 380, 303, 266 and 175mm rain respective­ly.

Similarly, in Jalore district, Raniwara, Bhinmal, Sanchore and Jalore have received 388mm, 257, 138 and 84mm rain. Jawai Dam, Sumerpur, Rani, Pali, Marwar Junction and Sadri in Pali district have received 240mm, 230mm, 187mm, 122, 114 and 110mm respective­ly.

In Udaipur, Kotra received 170mm, Kherwara 132mm, Salumbar 114mm, Jaisamand 113mm and Rishbadev 102mm and Beawar in Ajmer district got 113mm rain.

Apart from these, Bhungra, Banswara and Bagidora in Banswara district witnessed 82mm, 75mm and 65mm rain, while Siwana in Barmer district received 71mm rain, Kareda and Raipur in Bhilwara district witnessed 90mm and 80mm rain, Angai in Dholpur received 74mm, Jaipur received 66.4mm rain, Pratapgarh received 110mm and Deogarh in Rajsamand received 101mm rain.

The meteorolog­ical department has said that rainfall and thundersto­rms are likely to occur in many places in east Rajasthan and at few places in west Rajasthan in the next 24 hours.
