Soon, skill dept to set up tourism training centre for women
The Rajasthan skill, employment and entrepreneurship department will soon set up a centre of excellence in tourism training for women to encourage them in the tourism and hospitality sector, an official said on Tuesday.
“There is a huge demand for students in the hospitality and retail segment,” said commissioner of skills, employment and entrepreneurship department Krishna Kunal.
“Besides training in the tourism sector, special emphasis will be laid on honing soft skills of the trainees,” he said.
“The Centre of Excellence in Tourism Training, Udaipur, is one such centre been run by the department, which is providing world-class training in tourism and hospitality to the youngsters of the state with the support from ITEES, Singapore.
“We are in the process of opening such a centre dedicated especially to women in the future.”
Inaugurating a new skill development centre at Bagru, where 110 students will be trained in different trades such as electronics, retail, food and beverage, street food vending among others, Kunal said the centre will be run by the GDR group.
The department has already trained more than six lakh youngsters and has introduced a lot of reforms especially to upgrade skill development in the state, he said.
“We are planning many more such initiatives in the near future too.”
The ITI wing has already started the National Council for Vocational Training examination for more than 4.5 lakh youngsters in the state, Kunal said.
“The department is taking a lot of initiatives to promote entrepreneurship among the youngsters so that they not only become self-employed but are also able to generate employment for others.
“This will be another step towards linking youngsters of the state with the Skill Rajasthan Mission.”
Chairman, GDR Education, Santosh Rungta said the group has been providing skill training in different trades to the youngsters in the states of Chhattisgarh and Tripura in the past and this is for the first time that we shall be entering Rajasthan.
“In the past, we have trained the youngsters in trades such as hospitality, security, bamboo making, masons, and electronics among others,” he said.
