Constable dies after speeding car hits motorcycle in Jaipur

A 32-year-old constable from the Kardhani police station died after the motorcycle he was travelling on was hit by a speeding car on Monday night.

The police said that the accident took place around 10pm on Monday when the constable was on duty.

“Constable Narpat Singh (32) had gone to deliver a summon and was near Govindpura bus stand on Kalwar Road when the accident happened,” said Anil Jasoria, station house officer, Kardhani police station.

The police said that according to eyewitness accounts, the motorcycle was hit by a car.

“Singh was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead. The car managed to flee the site of the accident,” said Jasoria.

The police on Tuesday paid tribute to their dead constable at the Bani Park police station in a ceremony in which a number of officials attended.

The police have lodged a case under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304A (death by negligence) in the matter. “We are in the process of tracing the car and arresting the person,” said the police. Four persons were killed and three others injured today in two separate accidents in Udaipur and Bikaner districts.

In Udaipur’s Jhadol Police Station area, two persons were killed and three injured their motorcycle collided, police said.

Those injured have been hospitalis­ed in Jhadol, SHO Jhadol Kailash Chand said.

The bodies were handed over to their family members after post mortem, the officer said.

In Bikaner, two persons died when their car collided with a state transport bus in Nokha Police Station area.

They were rushed to Bikaner for treatment, but were declared brought dead by doctors, the police said. Dungarram Mali (40) and Devi Singh Rajput (35) were killed in the accident.
