Woman, domestic help held after murder of her in-laws

GURGAON: COPS SAID GEETA WANTED A SHARE IN HER INLAWS’ PROPERTY WORTH ₹18 CRORE AFTER HER HUSBAND COMMITTED SUICIDE

A woman and her domestic help have been arrested for allegedly murdering her in-laws and burning their bodies for property in Sohna, near Gurgaon, the police said.

Police said Geeta Tomar had fights with her in-laws over their property worth ₹18 crore and wanted a share in it after her drug addict husband committed suicide by hanging about six months ago. They were married for two years and have a daughter. The property case is in court.

Late on Thursday night, Geeta, 33, and Vikas, 24, allegedly stranNagin­a gled her in-laws and burnt their bodies with petrol. Sohna station house officer Mukesh Kumar said bodies of father-in-law, Satpal Tomar, 65, a retired army officer, and mother-in-law, Pushpa, 60, were recovered from Naugaon in Alwar of Rajasthan. Her brother-in-law, Pankaj Kumar’s, 38, half-burnt body was found at area of Mewat district.

Alwar district is nearly 100 km from Geeta’s house in Sohna, about a two hours’ drive.

Rajasthan police scanned CCTV camera recordings of toll plazas between Sohna, Alwar and Mewat and spotted a black car. The owner of the car, Geeta’s neighbour, said she had borrowed the vehicle on Thursday night for an “emergency”. “The vehicle had blood spots,” the SHO added.

The police have filed an FIR against Geeta and Vikas under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 (disappeara­nce of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. Geeta’s brother Samardeep Chauhan is also a suspect in the case.
