NAWAZ LEAVES FOR LONDON TO VISIT HIS AILING WIFE KULSOOM

-

Pakistan’s ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday left for London along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz to be with his cancerstricken wife, amid speculation that he might not return because of a likely conviction in three corruption cases against him.

“Begum Kulsoom Nawaz has been under treatment in a hospital in London as her condition is serious,” the Sharif family spokesperson said, adding that because of her condition, the former premier and his daughter have to be with her.

Maryam tweeted about Kulsoom: “My mother is hospitalised again. Remember her in your special prayers. I know prayers can do wonders. Allah answers prayers.”

As the spokesman did not reveal Sharif’s return schedule, analysts believe that it is likely he will skip his appearance before a combined investigation team of the National Accountability Bureau in Lahore on April 21.

The NAB has summoned Sharif for allegedly misusing his authority for the illegal construction of a road leading to his Jati Umra, Raiwind residence.

Kulsoom had undergone a surgery for lymphoma last year. Her condition recently deteriorated and she was hospitalised.

Last week, Prime Minister Shahid Khakan Abbasi showed reluctance to place Sharif and his family on the exit control list.PTI
