National Centre for Disease Control Director Sujeet K.Singh, who is also part of the Central team, told the media that all technical assistance and support is being extended by to the state.

“With regards to the financial assistance, that is not decided by me. The second team of ours is reaching here tomorrow (on Wednesday) and things are well under control,” he said. A team of medical profession­als from AIIMS Delhi is expected to arrive here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that he welcomed all those medical profession­als who are willing to come to the state to take part in controllin­g this virus. Srivaikund­am and Oddapidara­m remained shut in support of the protest, police said.

The district has been witnessing several protests by locals and others against the Sterlite Copper plant here and its proposed expansion.

Protesters have alleged that the plant was polluting ground water in their area.

Sterlite Copper represents the copper unit of Vedanta Limited which operates a 400,000 tonnes per annum-plant in Tuticorin. clarify how the needs of such a minor child will be looked after by her.

For last three years, we were working on the issue. The central government had done it along with the sixth pay commission.
