TEEN GIRL WHO ELOPED WITH ‘TANTRIK BABA’ RECOVERED

: A 17-year-old Dalit girl, who eloped with a ‘Baba’ on May 24, was recovered from Jalore district on Wednesday. Police also arrested the accused baba, identified as Mohan Ram alias Mohan Bhagat, a resident of Samon Ki Dhani in Barmer.

Meanwhile, in compliance with a habeas corpus plea filed by the victim’s parents, the minor was produced before the Rajasthan high court.

Gagandeep Singla, superinten­dent of police in Barmer, said that they registered a case of kidnapping of the girl on May 26. According to the case, the accused is a tantrik, who used to visit the victim’s home for treating her mother. The baba also stayed at her house often.

After Bhagat eloped with the minor girl on May 24, the victim’s parents approached the police and on May 26, they lodged a case of kidnapping against the accused. They also filed a habeas corpus plea in the high court. Hearing the plea, the Barmer police was directed to trace and produce the girl before the court. During the last hearing, the court ordered that the girl be produced on July 13.

Several police teams were formed and during the search operation, Barmer police were informed that the Baba had changed his look and was spotted in Ramdevra in Jaisalmer . Later, they got to know about his whereabout­s in Haridwar, after which a police team was dispatched there. Meanwhile, police were tipped off that they were spotted in Chitalwana village of Jalore district. Barmer police arrested the accused and recovered the girl on Wednesday. HTC
