Meet in Jaipur to decide standard treatment protocol for lung diseases
: Renowned pulmonologists from the country will gather in Jaipur on Saturday and Sunday to discuss on standard treatment protocol of Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs).
ILDs were considered rare in India, but now many patients have been identified, revealed a study.
In ILDs, alveolar walls are swollen and scarred as the result blood does not get complete oxygen due to which lungs shrunk and become hard. In short, the lungs like grape in ILD become raisin.
The patient remains fine when sitting or lying, but when walking and climbing stairs goes out of breath.
Dr Virendra Singh, a renowned pulmonologist and director of Asthma Bhawan, said many types of treatment are available, but in medical world, the right kind of opinion to treat ILD is lacking.
The two-day meeting will be organised by Indian Chest Society and National College of Chest Physician at Asthma Bhawan in Jaipur.
The organising secretary of the meeting Dr Sheetu Singh, pulmonologist with Institute of Respiratory Diseases said renowned experts including from various hospitals including PGI Rohtak, AIIMS Delhi, CMC Vellore, Max Noida, Fortis Kolkata, American Thoracic Society’s Dr Ganesh Raghu and others will take part.

Dr Virendra, director Asthma Bhawan and one of the authors of the article said Indian Chest Society, had conducted a survey of ILD across 27 centres in 19 cities including Jaipur and Ajmer in Rajasthan in India in May 2017.
The study was done on 1084 patients and surprising facts have come to light.
