The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has warned the government that if the three persons arrested for allegedly lynching Rakbar Khan are not released within the next 48 hours, the VHP and Bajrang Dal will call for a Bharat Bandh.

The VHP has also submitted a memorandum to district sessions judge Manoj Kumar Vyas on Wednesday addressing chief minister Vasundhara Raje and the state government.

The VHP has also demanded the suspension of ASP Anil Beniwal and alleged that he has been helping cow smugglers. Targeting Meo Muslims the memorandum says, “Members of a ‘special community’ are trying to disturb communal harmony in the city. They have also burned the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The police of Ramgarh has turned silent on this issue, which is wrong.”

BJP MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja, too, has demanded the release of three persons arrested for lynching.

ALWAR:

Bareth said the Centre and the state government were being condemned after Rakbar’s lynching. “The BJP felt that people, in general, are not appreciating the repeated lynchings. This is no longer merely a law and order situation but a socio-political issue and the BJP felt it will have to pay a heavy price in the elections.” He added that if the BJP was sincere, it would have adopted the proactive approach after the Pehlu Khan’s lynching. Political analyst Rajiv Gupta called the BJP’s reaction hypocrisy. “The BJP is afraid that mob lynchings will become a political issue in the Rajasthan and general elections and the opposition will use it to target the BJP.” He said the BJP “is making a show of taking action” said the issue has been raised in the SC and the BJP is in trouble.
