The Congress is going all out to ensure that there are no gaps in its election campaign. The party will provide macro-level details to its candidates to prepare their campaign.

Rajasthan, which has 200 assembly seats, is scheduled to go to the polls later this year.

A senior Congress leader, on the condition of anonymity, said that the party has prepared a detailed report on each booth. The candidates will also be given information on the assembly constituencies such as the trend so far on the seat; strength and weakness of the party on the seat and reasons for defeat; and information on the booth and booth committee members.

Similarly, an age-wise breakup of the voters in a constituency will also be given to the candidate, who will also be told about the demands from the people of the area and which aspects need to be focused on and the party’s position in the area.

“The party will provide all these details to the respective candidate. These details have been prepared by Congressmen from outside the state, such information will help a candidate plan an effective campaign,” said the leader.

He said that the state party organisation will provide booth and assembly level information to the candidate, along with local equations.

The leader said that experts and senior leaders shared the mantra to strengthen the party at the booth level with the workers at a day-long training workshop held in July. They were asked to go hi-tech and strengthen booth management.

The Congress’ core focus is on strengthening booths. Workers are being trained by experts on things to ensure before and after the election, such as checking EVMs, rights of booth agent, voter list, fake voters etc.

He said as strategic assistance from the state party organisation, geographical details of the voting pattern at booth level will be based on areas under booth, village, tehsil and panchayat, while in urban areas it will be based on the wards. These details at assembly constituency will be seen by looking at the caste equation, recent discussions and image of probable candidates.

District and block chiefs, present and ex-MLAs and MPs, and senior leaders were asked to use social media at the workshop. “If we want the youth to vote in favour of the Congress, social media has to be used as a medium for publicity,” said the experts.
