Five arrested in two decoy operations
The state pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic technique (PCPNDT) cell arrested five culprits, including a woman, for conducting sex determination in two decoy operations on Tuesday late night and on Wednesday and seized equipment, two vehicles and money.
State PCPNDT appropriate authority and National Health Mission chief Naveen Jain on Thursday said that information was received that Ravi Singh, a resident of Singhana in Jhunjhunu district was conducting sex determination. It was found that Singh was arrested earlier, too, for the same offence and had again started the business in Jhunjhunu and nearby districts. It is to be mentioned that state PCPNDT Bureau of Investigation had arrested Singh and he was out on bail.
A decoy operation was planned after approaching a woman broker, Phoolpati, and Singh on August 14 at 3.30am. On getting the signal, the PCPNDT cell arrested Phoolpati and Singh’s driver Sunil Kumar, while Singh managed to escape. The cell recovered the sonography machine and other equipment, while the search is on to nab Singh.
In another incident on August 15, the cell arrested government compounder Nirmal Singh from Sikar at 9 pm. Information was received that Nirmal, who had earlier been arrested earlier for sex determination, was again doing so with the help of a government auxiliary nurse midwife Saroj and an illegal sonography machine in Sikar.
