A Class 11 student of Rajasthan claim to have prepared a mobile app through which a person injured in road accident can call the nearest hospital and ambulance in no time.

The student, Sovesh Mahapatra, 17, who hails from Jaipur, has sent a proposal to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Rajasthan government seeking approval for the free use of the mobile app, named Shozu.

Every year, hundreds of people lose their lives in road accidents in India, as they do not get timely medical aid. Sovesh got the idea of developing the app after watching one such road accident. “After seeing a road mishap in the past, I felt that it remains difficult for the eyewitnesses of road mishaps to send the information to hospital and police, and arrange ambulance. Many others do not intimate fearing police questioning. So, I decided to prepare a mobile app to ensure quick medical help to the road mishap injured,” said Sovesh, who is preparing for the IIT-JEE in Kota.

Through the app, anyone can send information about the road accident victim to the nearest hospital and ambulance facility by just clicking ‘Help’ on the app. “The mobile app will quickly send the location of the message sender to the nearest hospitals and ambulance facility for saving life of the injured,” he said.

The location of the message sender will be traced through the GPS system, he added.

Sovesh said that he took a month’s time to develop the app. “After testing my mobile app, I have sent a proposal to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and also Rajasthan government for allowing free use of this mobile app,” he said.

Sovesh said he has shown his app to Kota district collector Gaurav Goyal, who has found the app useful for the people.

The app can be downloaded from the Google playstore on android phones.

Sovesh has bagged the National Child Award from the then President Pranab Mukherjee, who had felicitated him as ‘Child Scientist’.

The student is also two-time champion of the National Children Congress. He has also won prizes in SIP Abacus and Brain Gym.
