JAIPUR:A If the yatra is a party programme then why are government funds being used? The government is misusing public funds

few months ahead of the elections, the assembly session that will begin on Wednesday is likely to be stormy with the Congress cornering the BJP government on chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s Gaurav Yatra and her meeting with beneficiaries of different government schemes.
This will be the 11th session of the 14th assembly and will be the last before the assembly elections at the end of the year. The session is crucial as the opposition is trying to pin down the government on several issues.
Raje called the BJP legislature party meeting on Tuesday to discuss the party’s strategy in the assembly to take on the opposition.
The government will highlight the farm loan waiver and other welfare schemes for people, said parliamentary affairs minister Rajendra Rathore.
The government plans to table 15 bills during the session, said Rathore. He said the session was likely to be for three or four days.
Leader of opposition in the assembly Rameshwar Dudi said the session should be called for 10 days.
“He said the farmers in the state are committing suicide, youth are unemployed, minors are being raped, the law and order situation is deteriorating, water and electricity situation is critical and the entire state is deprived of development. We will raise all these issues,” said Dudi.
The Congress legislature party meeting will be held on Wednesday morning to discuss its strategy. Dudi said the Congress will demand a white paper from the government on loan waiver and farmer suicides.
The Congress is also targeting the government over chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra, saying government funds are being misused for the yatra.
Congress MLA Ramesh Meena has sought details about the spending on the CM’s yatra. “I have asked about the money spent on the CM’s yatra. If the yatra is a party programme then why are government funds being used? The government is misusing public funds,” he said.
Meanwhile, Independent MLA Nand Kishore Maharia has asked a question on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s beneficiary meet in Jaipur on July 7.
“I have asked under what head money was spent for the PM’s meeting. I have also asked why the administration officials were put on duty to bring crowds from various districts for the meeting,” he said. “All government have schemes that benefit the people so why is this government insulting beneficiaries by bringing them for public meetings. They have not done any favour to the people.”
