Youth Congress members on Thursday demonstrated in Jaipur over issues of inflation, corruption and unemployment and tried to march towards the Rajasthan assembly. Police used water cannon and mild force to disperse the activists trying to march towards the assembly.

Few activists received injuries during the melee and were taken to the hospital. Around 25 activists were dispersed by police under CrPc section 129. “The BJP government is committing scams after scams and thereafter to suppress them, it is using the government machinery – Rafale is a live example,” state Youth Congress president and MLA Ashok Chandna said. “When the UPA inked the deal, the agreement was for the purchase of 126 Rafale aircraft at ₹526.1 crore per aircraft.

The NDA had struck the deal to buy the aircraft at ₹1670.70 per piece. The price is almost three times than the price negotiated by the UPA,” he added.

Chandna said that the Youth Congress is protesting the scam and will continue to expose the BJP and its nexus with the corporate sector. “Youth Congress activists were staging protests but were stopped. The BJP government has always suppressed the voice of farmers, youth and

unemployed, and resorted to lathi and bullets,” he said.

Indian Youth Congress, vicepresident Srinivas VB said, “We will continue to protest from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari, until the PM replies in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the Rafale scam.”

AICC general secretary CP Joshi said the central government in an organised manner is trying to weaken democracy, which is dangerous for the country. The Congress government worked on development, strengthening the infrastructure, unity and peace but BJP is dividing the country in the name of religion.

Addressing the Youth Congress members, he said the previous Congress government in Rajasthan brought oil refinery and other public welfare schemes but the BJP stalled them.

State Congress spokesperson Archana Sharma, after meeting the injured at the hospital, condemned the act. “The YC members were raising the people’s voice. Why should the Rafale deal not be probed? The BJP neither speaks in assembly nor takes cognizance of the protest.”

Commenting on allegations levelled by YC leaders, state BJP spokesperson Mukesh Pareek said Congress is trying to hide their failures and its is they who made mistakes in the Rafale aircraft deal. Now they are misleading the people spreading lies.
