5 days left for consumers to avail of discom offers
Only five days are left for electricity consumers to avail the three ongoing offers announced by the Jaipur discom (distribution company), said discom’s chairman and managing director RG Gupta.
Looking at the response of people, the three schemes – VCR (vigilance checking report) settlement scheme, electricity amnesty scheme and voluntary load increase scheme for agriculture connections – were extended till September 30. For the settle- ment scheme, VCRs until March 31, 2018 will be included. Earlier, the scheme was meant for VCRs pending only till December 31, 2017.
Gupta said that under the electricity amnesty scheme, interest and penalty will be waived off if the pending amount is deposited before September 30. The scheme covers electricity connections of non-domestic, industrial and mixed load categories that were snapped till March 31, 2017. Consumers of domestic, agriculture and small-industrial plant (rural), and connections of Central and state government depart- ments can avail the scheme irrespective of when their connections were snapped, a release from the discom said.
According to the VCR settlement scheme, if the VCR is of Rs 50,000 or under, it can be settled by paying 50% of the amount. If the amount is above Rs 50,000, then 50% of 50,000 and 10% of the amount after 50,000 can be paid to settle the VCR. For example, if the VCR is of ~100,000, it can be settled by paying ~35,000 (~ 25,000 for first 50,000 and ~5,000 for the remaining at 10%). The benefit will be given if the settlement is done before September 30.
