109 test positive, 91 of them recover

The total number of Zika cases in Jaipur has reached 109 with nine testing positive on Friday, state health department, said in a review meeting. Department additional chief secretary Veenu Gupta said of the 109 cases, 91 persons have recovered.

She said fogging activity has been intensifie­d and people will be informed about it a day in advance. On Saturday, the corporatio­n would carry out fogging in wards 22, 24 and 83, she said. From 6.30am to 9am, fogging will be done in colonies of Hasanpura and Khatipura area in ward 22, and Pani Pech cross roads, Rajasthan Police Academy Road, Kanwatia Circle, Subhash Colony, nearby areas of Rashtrapat­i Maidan in ward 24. Colonies of Gangauri Bazaar, Brahmapuri Road, Nahargarh Road, Gaitor Road and nearby areas in ward 83 will be taken up from 5pm to 7pm.

Resident of these colonies have been asked to keep doors and windows of their houses open but cover water and food items. Patients suffering from asthma have been advised to avoid inhaling the smoke from fogging.

Special vigilance is maintained in zika virus affected areas of Shastri Nagar, Vidyadhar Nagar and Station Road near Rajput Hostel, she said.

Students of private and government schools will be trained to report probable mosquito breeding sites at their homes and nearby places. Suresh Jain, district education officer, Jaipur, said about 750 teachers have been trained to create awareness among students on the virus.
