Title for Rajnigandh­a Achievers

Rajnigandh­a Achievers emerged winners of Radha Mohan Rajinder Mohan Gold Vase (8 Goal) polo tournament beating Jindal Panther by 6 ½ goals to 3 in the final played at Jaipur Polo Ground here on Saturday.

Hurr Ali was adjudged the Most Valuable Player and Mare Chilli from Vandit Golechha’s stables was adjudged the Best Polo Pony. Scorers for Rajnigandh­a Achievers were – Matthew Perry (2), Vandit Golechha (2), Hurr Ali (2) and started with ½ goal on handicap. Scorers for Jindal Panther were – Simran Shergill (2), Tom Brodie (1)

HOCKEY CORE GROUP

Hockey India on Saturday named a 33-member core group for the women’s national camp beginning in Bengaluru on Monday.

The camp, to be conducted under the watchful eyes of chief coach Sjoerd Marijne, will conclude on November 30.

“We have brought in a few younger players who have shown good performanc­es in the domestic events ,” said Marijne.

The Indian women’s national team will take on Bangladesh in their second match of the first round of the 2020 AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will be held at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Sunday.

After 1-1 draw against Nepal in their first match, team India will be eyeing full three points against Bangladesh.
