CVigil effective in checking model code violations, says poll official
The C-Vigil app made by the Election Commission of India to keep strict watch on violation of model code of conduct (MCC) is proving to be effective with a total of 1,211 complaints received from the date of implementation of the app (October 6) till Thursday.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) Jogaram said, “Till Thursday, total 1,211 complaints were received of which 723 complaints were found valid by the returning officers and were resolved within the fixed time limit.”
He said returning officers dismissed 339 complaints, 17 complaints are pending with the investigating teams and returning officers for the decision and 132 complaints were dismissed by the team of district control room.
Jogaram said maximum 273 complaints of violation of MCC were received from Bharatpur district, whereas maximum action was taken by the returning officers in Kota, who have resolved 222 complaints.
The ACEO said that complaints received on C-Vigil application can be resolved within maximum 100 minutes. He said, till now, the candidates used to evade action due to lack of sufficient evidence on complaints of violation of MCC. While verifying the complaint, lack of photo or video as documental evidence was the major obstacle in taking action.
Jogaram said any person using this application can report about the violation of MCC. General public can use this app and send the complaint and within 100 minutes, the issue will be resolved. The best part of this app is that the identity of the complainant is kept confidential. This app can be downloaded on any android phone from google play store.
