Raje seen at BJP office, Pilot-Gehlot meet Sonia
A day after the polling, while candidates, party workers and local leaders of both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party took a break on Saturday, their senior state leaders continued holding discussions and meetings to decide on the future course of action once the election results are announced Tuesday.
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje flew down to Jaipur from Jhalawar around 3pm and went to the party’s state office headquarters where she held a meeting with state party president Madan Lal Saini, and other leaders including Chandrashekhar, Ashok Parnami, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Speaking to the mediapersons upon arriving at the party office, Raje said, “I am on chutti.” After the meeting, which lasted for about two hours, she left for her residence in Civil Lines.
In the Congress’ camp, senior leaders Ashok Gehlot (former chief minister) and Sachin Pilot (party’s state president) were busy holding meetings and discussions with other senior leaders in New Delhi. The two, accompanied by a few others, are reported to have also met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, a day ahead of her birthday.
After the polling ended, both Gehlot and Pilot flew to Delhi – Gehlot directly from Jodhpur and Pilot after addressing a press conference in Jaipur.
There was hardly any activity from Raje, Pilot and Gehlot on microblogging website Twitter.
Raje had only tweeted about a bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir; Gehlot on the accident and an interview of his; and Pilot over the accident, a media report of an EVM being recovered from a BJP leader’s house and thanking the people of Rajasthan for voting.
