All set for revelry: Drummers on call, fireworks stacked
All set with garlands, stage decorations, drummers, fireworks and hawans (religious ceremonies), supporters of the candidates contesting elections have fixed it all to celebrate the results of the assembly elections on Tuesday. From sending huge orders of sweets to organising collective fasting (Roza), the supporters of various candidates left no stone unturned to celebrate the victory.
Ahead of the assembly election results, supporters collectively organised group fasting and conducted religious ceremonies. “Every supporter has carried out religious ceremonies. The ones who follow Hindu religion have conducted Hawan and the Muslims have kept Roza collectively for the victory of our candidate,” said Aslam Qureshi, supporter of Amin Kagzi who is contesting against Mohan Lal Gupta from Kishanpole constituency.
In a bid to be prepared for the celebration, others have ordered garlands, stage decorations, drummers and bought fireworks in advance. “We have ordered several garlands along with a special garland weighing 21kg. We ordered for stage decoration near Gauri Park which will start early morning on Tuesday. Four drums and fireworks have also been ordered in advance. Since we are confident about the win, the only thing we are concerned about is that the victory should be celebrated with pomp,” said Ayub Gaury, supporter of Mahesh Joshi, contesting against Surendra Pareek from Hawa Mahal constituency.
The drummers and garland sellers have been facing a hard time accommodating the orders from various candidates. “Fiftytwo of my drums are being sent away for a single party. I had to say no to the orders coming from the other candidates since all my drummers are completely booked for Tuesday. Only way I can accommodate all the orders is that I will have to send my drummers for two hours each to the booked candidates, “said Sunny Bhat, the contractor for drums.
“I have been making heavy garlands for the candidates as well as star campaigners such as Amit Shah and Yogi Aditynath in these elections. Certainly my sales have been high this election season,,” said Pappu Saini, a garland vendor at Tripolia bazaar.
“Since the demand will be high, we had to ensure that we were the first ones to order the drummers, sweets, etc. We are sure of the victory and therefore, we have assured the arrangements for the celebration. Several kilogrammes of sweets have been ordered,” said Arvind Kumar (Dablu), a supporter of Kalicharan Saraf , contesting against Congress’s Archana Sharma from Malviya Nagar constituency.
