Man arrested on charges of killing wife a month ago

Jaipur rural police on Monday claimed to have cracked mystery behind a woman’s murder a month ago by arresting her husband. During the interrogat­ion, the accused told police that he had killed his wife on suspicion that she was having an illicit relation with another man.

A month ago, the body of a woman without hands and head was recovered from a well of the water department at Itawa village near Phulera town.

Sensing seriousnes­s of the case, Ajay Pal Lamba, the superinten­ded of police, Jaipur rural formed a special team. In a month-long investigat­ion, police started collecting data of missing woman from various police stations and nearby villages.

“A tip-off was received that a woman identified as Asha Verma married in Teja Ka Bas hamlet, falling under Rajpura police station was missing from a few days. Our suspicion went on the family members as no missing complaint was lodged,” said Rajesh Yadav, additional superinten­dent of police, Dudu police.

“Our team monitored activities of the family for a few days. On the basis of suspicion, we arrested the deceased’s husband Nandlal alias Vikri. During investigat­ion, Vikri accepted that he had killed his wife by chopping her body parts,”said Yadav.

Vikri had buried hands and head of Asha in farms near to his house, he said. “The reason behind cutting his hands was that he (accused) wanted to hide details of the deceased.”

He said the accused revealed that he had used a sharp-edged knife to kill his wife. Vikri also told police that he and his wife had love marriage against the will of their families. HTC
