ALWAR: The Alwar police on Friday arrested seven people on the charges of attempt to loot a roadways depot at gunpoint on December 9. All the accused are under 22 years, the police said.

Alwar superintendent of police Rajendra Singh said son of a security guard was the mastermind of the loot. “He came to give dinner to his father every evening and saw cash at the depot. Later, he told his friends about it and planned the loot,” he said.

Guard’s son Amit Kumar was arrested on the basis of his suspicious behavior and others were caught on the information provided by him during interrogation, the SP said. “The seven have confessed to their crime,” he added.

The accused are Shaiki Jat, Bhoop Singh Gurjar, Kamal Singh Shikari, Ravi Oad, Moni Kumar Jat and Akash Oadrajput. Police said they might be involved in other crimes, which are expected to be solved after their interrogation.

The SP said around 8.30pm on December 9, three of the accused went to the Matasya Nagar roadways depot to loot cash. Two of them held Ramesh Lodika, conductors Anil Giri and Fakruddin and guard Nana Lal at gunpoint in a room, and the third went to the cash room. He held a pistol to the cashier’s scalp and asked him to hand over the cash but the cashier refused. The police officer said that the accused fired two rounds but the cashier remained unhurt. Others also fired to terrorise other staff of the depot.

“On hearing gunshots, some people rushed to the depot. The miscreants got nervous and ran away with conductor Fakruddin’s mobile phone. There were Rs 40 lakh in the cash room which were saved,” the SP said.

The police officer said that several teams were formed to arrest the miscreants.
