REVIEW MEET Cong leaders say though govt has changed, officials are still working with the same attitude they had during the BJP rule

BARMER: Rajasthan’s energy and P HED mi n i s t e r BD Kal l a directed officials to improve their working style after Congress leaders complained that they have not changed their attitude though government has changed in the state.

Congress legislator f rom Barmer Mewaram Jain told Kalla during a review meeting that though government has changed in the state, officials are still working with the same attitude they had during the BJP rule. “They should be directed to change their working style,” Mewaram told Kalla who is also the minister in-charge of Barmer district.

Baytoo panchayat samiti pradhan Simaratharam Choudhary alleged, “Some officials in the energy department are still working as if they BJP men.”

Sheo legislator and former minister Ameen Khan told Kalla that the previous BJP government neglected MGNREGA scheme depriving people of jobs in rural areas. “Instead of engaging labourers in the job scheme, works are being done through machines,” the MLA alleged.

Chohtan l egislator Padmaram Meghwal said electrification work of many villages was pending, but officials have declared them as electrified. “Such villages will not get benefits of any other scheme.” Meghwal asked the minister to order revision of the list of fully electri- fied villages.

Kalla directed the officials to involve local leaders in the implementation of the schemes. “After coming to power, the Congress government has taken so many decisions in very short period. The government’s only priority is to provide relief to people with better implementation of welfare schemes at the ground level,” the minister said.

Barmer district collector Himaanshu Gupta assured the minister that the directions given during the review meeting would be followed.

Revenue minister Harish Choudhary was also present in the meeting, in which Congress leaders avoided discussions of the Narendra Modi government’s schemes, such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and PM Awas Yojana.

The leaders talked about job guarantee plans, electrification, drinking water schemes and drought-related issues.
