Career counselling portal for higher secondary school students launched
JAIPUR: In a bid to facilitate career counselling for the higher secondary school students, education minister Govind Singh Dotasra launched Rajiv Gandhi career portal on Wednesday.
The portal has been developed to inform the students of class 9 to 12 about the various career options, entrance exams, scholarship, employment courses, among others, a press release by the education department said.
According to the release, the portal has been prepared with the help of UNICEF and is the first of its kind in the country.
Dotasra said the career counselling portal would prove helpful for 23 lakh school students of the country. “The portal would provide information regarding 200 vocational and 237 professional courses. Information regarding more than 455 career opportunities, prominent 10,000 colleges in the country, 960 scholarships and more than 955 exams will also be provided on the portal,” he said. A career counselling cell named ‘Rajiv Gandhi career portal’ was also announced by the minister.
According to a press release by the UNICEF on Wednesday, Rajasthan is the first state in India to launch the career guidance portal with UNICEF support and such a portal is expected to be launched in 16 other states.
