Private hospitals, labs agree to charge ₹2,500 for swine flu test

THE PRIVATE HOSPITALS AND LABORATORI­ES HAVE ALSO BEEN DIRECTED TO PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION ON THE QUALITY OF SWINE FLU TEST

JAIPUR: Leading private hospitals and laboratori­es in Rajasthan have agreed to conduct swine flu test at ~2,500 till March 31, 2019.

This comes following the health department special secretary, Dr Samit Sharma, held a meeting with the representa­tives of private hospitals and laboratori­es at the health directorat­e in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The private hospitals and labs have also been directed to pay special attention on the quality of swine flu test.

So far, private hospitals and labs in the state have been charging between Rs 4,000 and Rs 5,000 for the swine flu test. However, prescribed by a government doctor, the test is free at seven medical colleges, Desert Medical Research Centre (DMRC) Jodhpur and Krishna Laboratory.

Dr Sharma has also written to the district collectors to hold meetings with private hospitals and try to persuade them to conduct swine flu test at the agreed rate.

In the meeting, representa­tives of Dr Lal Path Lab, SRL Diagnosti c , Dr B Lal Lab, Krishna diagnostic, Mircocheck Lab, DKM diagnostic, Saket hospital, Mahatma Gandhi hospital, Santokba Durlabhji Hospital, Narayana Multispeci­alty hospital, CK Birla, Metro Mas hospital, Eternal hospital and Fortis Hospitals took part.
