Hail damages Rabi crops in Hadoti, survey ordered
KOTA: Rain accompanied with hailstorms in several areas of Hadoti region on Wednesday night has damaged the maturing Rabi crops, increasing the concerns of the farmers.
Jagdish Sharma, secretary of Rashtriya Kisan Sangathan, said that rain and hailstorms have adversely affected the rabi c r ops i n many parts of t he Hadoti region including Kota, Bundi and Jhalawar.
Maturing crops, particularly mustard, wheat and coriander are among the worst affected crops, he said.
He demanded that farmers be given due compensation after surveying the loss.
Meanwhile, district collector of Bundi, Rukmani Riyar has ordered a joint survey of the crop damage in Bundi district by revenue department staff and agriculture department supervisors.
Joint director, agriculture department, Kota, Ramavatar Sharma said that the hailstorm have affected crops only in some parts of Jhalawar and Bundi districts and not the entire region.
He said that while the Rabi crops have faced damage of 10%-30% in Pachpahad, Dug and Chaumhela tehsils of the Jhalawar district, some damage to crops has also been reported in Nainwa and Hindoli tehsils of Bundi.
