Slain soldier never got to see his newborn
JAIPUR: Cremation of Rohitash Lamba who lost his life during Pulwama attack was done at his native village Govindpura near Shahpura town in Jaipur district on Saturday.
His two-month-old son Dhruv Lamba led the pyre. Lamba was cremated with full state honours. Before cremation, Lamba was also given a guard of honour.
The body of CRPF personnel was brought to his home around 8.40 am. People from the city were united with the soldier’s family in the emotional time.
Thousands of people from villages Chowki Ka Badh, Nayan, Markhi, Hanutiya, Radawas, Dhanota and Murlipura carried out a procession to pay respects to Lamba and reached his native house in Govindpura village. People were seen chanting slogans of ‘Rohitash Lamba Amar Rahe’ ( l ong l i ve Rohitash Lamba).
Union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, state UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal, agriculture minister Lalchand Kataria, transport minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, state BJP president Madan Lal Saini, Jaipur police range IG S Sengathir, CRPF IG Bhrugu Srinivasan, divisional commissioner KC Verma, Jaipur rural SP Harendra Kumar and leaders of various political parties also reached Govindpura village to pay their tributes to Lamba.
Rohitash Lamba was 27-yearold when he lost his life in the Pulwama attack. He joined the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) when he was 25. Lamba got married a year ago and had a 2-month-old daughter whom he didn’t have a chance to even meet once. Lamba is survived by his father Babulal Lamba (70), mother Ghinsa Devi (65), wife Manju (24) and two-month-old son Dhruv Lamba.
