Bribery case: Jhotwara police officer suspended

JAIPUR: Assistant Commission­er of Police(acp) for Jhotwara circle Aash Mohammad was suspended on Saturday after his name surfaced in a bribery case.

The orders released by the home department said, “A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, (amended) and section 120(B) of Indian Penal Codewas registered against Rajasthan Police Services (RPS) cadre officer Aash Mohammad who is posted as ACP Jhotwara on Thursday. The allegation­s levelled against him are serious.”

“To get his clarificat­ion, Anticorrup­tion Bureau (went to his office but he was not present and his phone is also switched-off. Also, he didn’t appear before the ACB. Hence under the section 13(1) of State Services Rules, he has been suspended from immediate eefect.” Mohammad, along with SHO) of Jhotwara police station Pradeep Charan and subinspect­or Ram Lal are on run after a bribery racket busted by the Rajasthan ACB on Wednes- day night. Notices were sent to the police officers but they have skipped ACB interrogat­ion and are missing from Wednesday. ACB on Wednesday arrested assistant public prosecutor Chandrabha­n Joshi, a head constable Battu Khan and a middleman Sumant Singh for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. HTC
