IN THE ITALIAN TOWN OF SAMBUCA, YOU CAN BUY A HOUSE FOR JUST ₹80

SAMBUCA: Officials are selling houses for €1 (₹80) in the hopes of repopulating the Italian hilltop town of Sambuca. Houses in the town nestled among beaches, trees and mountains in Sicily are worse for wear because locals have moved to larger cities, as reported by The Independent. The homes are now owned by the city hall and are being sold for the low price of €1 provided the new owners invest €15,000 (₹12 lakhs) towards renovating the houses within three years. There is also an initial down payment of €5000 (₹4 lakhs) which would be returned to them once the renovations are complete. So far 10 houses have been sold. HTC
