Can see myself coaching in France one day: Mourinho

LILLE: Jose Mourinho said he could see himself coaching in France as he attended the 0-0 draw between Lille and Montpellie­r to reportedly cast an eye over Ivorian star Nicolas Pepe.

“I can imagine (coaching) in France one day,” Mourinho said. “I’m a man who’s worked in four different countries, who likes that, who likes to know other cultures. I like to learn all the time, to work in a different league would be a fantastic experience. (At the moment) I’m calm, I’m trying to enjoy life with family and friends and calmly working to hopefully find another opportunit­y in football.”

WOLVES, PALACE WIN

LONDON: Wolverhamp­ton held on to beat Championsh­ip side Bristol City 1-0 to reach the quarterfin­als of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Crystal Palace won 2-0 at thirdtier side Doncaster later Sunday, and Swansea trailed 1-0 at halftime before beating Brentford 4-1 in an all-second tier meeting.

INTER EDGE SAMPDORIA

MILAN: Inter Milan ended a turbulent week by beating Sampdoria 2-1 in Serie A on Sunday under the gaze of injured top scorer Mauro Icardi.

The Argentine striker was stripped of the captaincy on Wednesday amid protracted negotiatio­ns over a new contract and he refused to travel for their Europa League fixture against Rapid Vienna the following day.

The c l ub s ubsequentl­y announced Icardi would miss the visit of Sampdoria through injury. Danilo D’ambrosio and Radja Nainggolan struck for the Nerazzurri either side of Samp substitute Manolo Gabbiadini’s goal in the space of five secondhalf minutes.

NAPOLI HELD

NAPLES: Napoli drew 0-0 with Torino on Sunday, their third goalless draw in four Serie A games, allowing Juventus to take a 13-point lead at the top of the table.

PSG EXTEND LEAD

PARIS: Kylian Mbappe’s secondhalf strike earned Paris St Germain a 1-0 win at St Etienne as the French champions continued their inevitable march towards the Ligue 1 title on Sunday. The result extended PSG’S lead to 12 points after second-placed Lille drew at home to Montpellie­r earlier on Sunday.
