JAIPUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday accused the state Congress government of apathy towards the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, saying it has provided names of only 1.27 lakh farmers of the 50 lakh farmers in Rajasthan who will benefit under the scheme.

BJP legislator Satish Poonia at a press conference here said nonBJP ruled states are lagging in giving names of beneficiaries to the Centre.

“The Congress had promised complete loan waiver, but till today it hasn’t clarified on loans taken by farmers from private banks, nationalized banks, and for tractors and so on,” Poonia said. The Congress resorted to similar catchphrases in promising an allowance for the unemployed, he said. “While the Congress promised unemployment allowance to all youth, after coming to power it has put several riders on it,” said Poonia.

He said the Congress government was working with a feeling of “vengeance” and had shown indifference towards schemes of the previous BJP government such as the Bhamashah Swasthya scheme and the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Reacting to Poonia’s statements, Congress media chairperson Archana Sharma said,“the Congress government is committed to the welfare of farmers and has already implemented loan waiver. Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, work has started and the state government has made a portal on which request of 29.26 lakh farmers has been received and data of 25.63 lakh farmers has been uploaded. This data is being cross-checked from the respective districts of the farmers by matching it with revenue records.”
