RADIOACTIVE DOLLS Gang duped four more traders of ₹16 crore

JAIPUR: Jaipur police on Friday claimed that multi-state fraud of promising to sell ‘rare radioactive dancing dolls’ and substances was now of about ₹23 crore with four more businessmen claiming that they were duped of ₹15.94 crore by the same gang.

On March 10, the Jaipur police had arrested 18 persons including Ganesh Ingole, who ran Mumbai based Rencel India, and Satyanarayn Anoriya, who used to work as class IV employee of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, and claimed that they had duped three Pune based businessmen of ₹7 crore in the name of giving them a ‘’rare radioactive dancing doll’’ certified by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

On Friday, Jaipur police commissioner Anand Srivastava told reporters that the gang had also cheated three other businessmen - - - one each f rom Indore, Kolkata, Jaipur --- and had taken ₹15.94 crore for them. “They were asked to pay for testing, royalty, certification and booking of a fake radioactive substance R-192, which they claimed will be bought by NASA at a very high price,” Srivastava said. A copper plate was being shown as R-192.

He also said other than the 18 arrested a person identified as Bhawani Singh Shekhawat, who used to run a local news channel, was also of this gang. Shekhawat is absconding.

“Shekhawat pretended to be the owner of R-192 and got a fake test of so-called radioactive substance done at his farm house located at Agra road to dupe these four businessmen. Anoriya and Ingole used to remain present during the test,” Srivastava said.

To convince the businessmen about radioactive substance, they were made to wear anti-nuclear suits purchased from Israel worth Rs four lakh each saying that it will prevent harmful radioactive effects during the test, police said. After the test was done, the gang members used to seek money to get chemical for further tests and then to obtain royalty certificate, Srivastava said.

Prashan Kumar Khamesra, additional commissioner of police, crime branch, said that the gang members used to claim that once the radioactive substances will get certificate its price will be 10 times of the booking cost.

“The gang members used to fool the buyers by calling fake s c i e nt i s t f r o m DRDO a nd NASA,” he said.
