Democracy in danger under BJP govt: Gehlot
BHARATPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said democracy, Constitution and the country are in danger under the BJP government.
“Congress knows how to rule and run the government. Congress can develoswp the country better. BJP government assured people to bring black money, provide employment for youths but failed,” he said, while addressing a public meeting in Pahari town under Kaman assembly constituency.
Congress launched the Lok Sabha election campaign in Rajasthan from the Mewat region of Bharatpur.
CM Gehlot, deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, state Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey, state ministers Vishvendra Singh, Dr Subhash Garg, Bhajan Lal Jatav and Kaman MLA Zahida Khan were among the party leaders who addressed the public meeting. During their address, the Congress leaders claimed that the party provided rights to people such as MGNREGA, right to education, information and health. All medical treatment has been made free by the Congress government, they claimed.
He said the BJP had formed government on the basis of catchphrases. “They assured people of ‘achche din’ and to bring black money, but failed. They talk about Hindutva. We were taught to respect all religions. BJP only remembers Ram temple at the time of election to win elections,” he said.
Deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot said Congress follows principles in politics, while BJP leaders try to destroy peace and brotherhood across the country.
BJP spokesperson Mukesh Pareek said Congress which imposed emergency on the country and toppled state governments unconstitutionally has no right to talk of democracy.
In the assembly election in 2018, the Congress won five seats out of seven assembly seats in district.
