Man kills wife, jumps into well to end life in Amber

JAIPUR: A man committed suicide by jumping into a well in Amber area of the city on Monday after killing his wife by attacking her with scissors, police said.

The police are trying to find out the reason behind the man killing his wife. The man’s body was pulled out of t he well. According to the police, the incident took place at Math village in Chavand area of Amber. The deceased were identified as Suresh Prajapati and his wife Indira Devi alias Pushpa Devi. As the villagers came to know about the murder, they informed the police control room. Senior police officers rushed to the spot. A forensic examination revealed that the man had killed his wife with scissors. The murder weapon was found lying near the body, and has been sent for a forensic examination.

After the police spotted the body in the well, a team of rescuers f rom t he state disaster response force was called to bring out the body. The bodies have been put in the mortuary of a hospital for a postmortem examination.

Assistant commissioner of police, Amber circle, Brijendra Singh Bhati said, “We are trying to find out the reason why the man murdered his wife and then committed suicide. According to preliminary investigation, we have discovered that even after 10 years of marriage, the couple had a disturbed relationship and used to fight a lot. The statement of the relatives and villagers are being recorded. Further investigation is on.”
