In a case similar to the Alwar gang rape, the district police have failed to arrest the three accused a case in which a 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped over a month ago.

The girl’s mother had registered an FIR of her kidnapping against the three accused — Nazar Khan, Rashid Khan and Munfed Khan —at the Kaman police station on April 10.

The three men allegedly took the minor girl from her village in the wee hours at gunpoint, gang-raped her and filmed the sexual assault.

After the girl was recovered the next day, the police added the gang rape charges to the case.

The girl’s medical examination has been conducted and her statement recorded before a magistrate, said Dharma Ram, a trainee officer of the Rajasthan Police Service and the investigating officer in the case.

“We are trying to arrest the accused,” the police officer added.

The girl’s father alleged that the accused are pressuring the family to withdraw the case threatening to circulate the video of the sexual assault on social media.

He said the accused, who belong to affluence families, were moving in the area freely, b u t t h e y were n o t b e i n g arrested. “It’s been a month and police have not arrested the three men who are threatening us to circulate a video of the sexual offence if we don’t withdraw our case,” said the girl’s father. The father alleged that the accused made another attempt to kidnap the minor girl on May 8, but villagers foiled their attempt.

On Tuesday, the girl’s family met Bharatpur superintendent of police Haider Ali Zaidi to seek action on their FIR lodged on April 10. Ali said the family met him today (Tuesday) and he had asked the circle officer (CO) concerned to arrest the accused soon.

Earlier, in Alwar’s Thanagazi, a 19-year-old woman was gang-raped by five men in front of her husband. The accused filmed the act and later circulated it on social media after the family refused to pay them money. The then SP of the district, Rajeev Pachar, has been removed and the Thanagazi SHO suspended f or t heir alleged laxity in dealing with the case.

In the Bharatpur case, both the survivor and the victim are Muslims.
