3 OF A FAMILY KILLED IN WALL COLLAPSE IN JODHPUR CITY

JODHPUR: Three members of a family were killed and another was injured after a wall of an under-construction house collapsed in Prithvipura area of the city during a dust storm on Monday night.

Police said two family members were sleeping on the terrace of their house and two others in the house.

The wall of an adjoining house, which was under construction, collapsed due to the dust storm and the debris fell on the terrace. All four members of the family got trapped under the debris.

As soon as the information was received, civil defence officials and police reached the spot and started pulling the injured out of the debris.

After about an hour of operation, the four injured were taken out of the debris and all were admitted to MDM Hospital in critical condition.

Police said Komal (25), who was pregnant, and his motherin-law Naini Devi (50) died during treatment. Vinod (25), a son of Naini Devi, also died in the night.

Vinod’s elder brother Manish is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

District collector Prakash Rajpurohit said the reasons for the incident will be investigated.

After post mortem, the three bodies were handed over to relatives on Tuesday. The municipal corporation sealed the underconstruction house.
