SHO cities mental illness, seeks VRS

SHO’S LETTER SAYS HE HAS HAS ALWAYS RECEIVED LOVE AND RESPECT FROM THE DEPARTMENT

JAIPUR: Station house officer (SHO) of Jyoti Nagar police station Sonchand Verma wrote a letter to the director general of police ( DGP) on Thursday requesting voluntary retirement from his duties. The reason cited behind Verma in his letter was that from last few days he is mentally unwell.

HT has a copy of the letter. The letter written by Verma reads, “I was appointed as the SHO of Jyoti Nagar police station March 5, 2019. From the day I had joined Jyoti Nagar police station I was feeling mentally unstable and I had informed my family members, police station staff members and additional commission­er of police about my condition.” The SHO said in his letter that in 23-years of his service he has always received love and respect from the department. “I have got rewards and appreciati­on from superinten­dents of police to the governor. During my period of duty I have never got any punishment or notice. I have done my duty with full honesty and dedication but now I am feeling mentally unstable. That’s why I am requesting you to relive me from my duties,” Verma added i n his l et t er. Director general of police Kapil Garg said, “I have not received the letter yet.”

Assistant commission­er of police, Ashok Nagar, Nemichand Kharia said that for the last fifteen days Verma has been saying that he doesn't like police work. “This was the first posting of Verma as SHO. Before Jyoti Nagar, he was posted in the traffic department.
