Maha, Haryana seal verdict as voting ends
ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS 56.33% voter turnout in Maharashtra, 63.32% in Haryana
MUMBAI/GURUGRAM: Maharashtra and Haryana on Monday voted to choose their representatives for the state legislative assemblies, in the first set of elections after the April-may Lok Sabha elections.
Maharashtra recorded 56.33% polling percentage while Haryana saw a relatively higher 63.32% voter turnout till 7pm Monday, according to the Election Commission of India. Final figures are likely to be updated.
Votes will be counted on October 24.
In both states, chief ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Devendra Fadnavis and Manohar Lal Khattar, are seeking second terms even as the Congress and other regional forces seek to challenge the BJP’S dominance.

NEWDELHI: Bypolls were held on Monday in 51 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats across 16 states and one Union Territory. Uttar Pradesh, which saw a mini version of the assembly elections with bypolls to eleven constituencies, recorded a low voter turnout of 44.47% till 5pm.
