Minister inaugurates co-op fair ahead of Diwali festival
JAIPUR: Cooperative minister Udai Lal Anjana inaugurated the Uphaar Sahkar Deepotsav Mela at Navjeevan Sahkari Bazaar in Jaipur on Monday.
The fair will run at three Rajasthan Consumer Federation (Confed) stores in the city from 11am to 9pm until October 27.
Anjana said the cooperative is a symbol of quality and the department organises such event from time to time to provide people good quality products at reasonable prices. The Confed has a special reputation and Confed stores at districts should also organise such fairs to provide purity to people’s doorstep through the cooperative department.
The main attraction of the Confed store mela is cock brand crackers from Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu. The minister said in Jaipur the franchisee for MMTC is with Confed.
Anjana went around all stalls in the fair and enquired about prices and concessions at the crackers stall. He said gold and silver coins of MMTC (Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India) and silver wares will be provided at reasonable prices at the mela.
The minister enquired about the facilities at the fair from registrar cooperative societies Niraj Kumar Pawan and directed Confed managing director to make proper arrangements for fire safety.
Pawan spoke to people who visited the fair for shopping and found out that they were satisfied with the prices of products here. “The mela is an effort to provide all products related to the Diwali festival under one roof,” he said.
