GEARING UP Efforts on to make festival decorations ‘extraordinary’ for both domestic as well as foreign tourists
JAIPUR: Markets of the Pink City are all decked up to celebrate Diwali week with its theme based decorations, lights and hustle and bustle of tourists. The markets of Jaipur are a main attraction for not only domestic tourists but also international tourists.
Efforts have been made to make decorations “extraordinary” this year, according to Kishanpole market association. The 60-foot-high Eiffel Tower made of steel will be the main attraction on the Chhoti Chaupad while the replica of Chandrayaan made out of thermacol will be placed atop Ajmeri Gate to give an airborne impression.
Along with this, large portraits of former president APJ Abdul Kalam and Indian Space Research Organisation chief K Sivan will be installed near the gate, t he association said. Throughout the market, the lights will in orange and green, signifying patriotism.
“We have made sure that the arrangements in the Kishanpole market should be extraordinary. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate the Eiffel Tower made out of steel on Wednesday and the following day former chief minister Vasundhara Raje will inaugurate Chandrayaan at Ajmeri gate,” said Manish Kunteta, president of the Kishanpole market association.

The Chandpole market where a Smart road is under construction have also been lit up on either sides of the road.
“The area is dim due to the construction of the road, we thought that the construction work going on should not affect the Diwali celebrations. So this year even if we could not decorate the market on a specific theme, we installed energy saving lights on either side of the road in a symmetry so as to light up the market,” said Subhash Goel, the president of Chandpole vyapaar Mandal.
Markets along the MI road have been decorated with the ‘Gates’ theme where six huge gates are made out of temporary material such as wood to give a feel of entering a celebratory zone, said Suresh Saini, president of the MI road Vyapaar Mandal.
“Lights have been installed throughout the MI road market area. A total of six temporary gate-like structures have been made and decorated. Four of them are on Panch Batti. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will be inaugurating the arrangement by switching on all the lights on Wednesday,” said Saini.
