Governor says late VP Shekhawat a visionary, uplifted common people
JAIPUR: Rajasthan governor Kalraj Mishra on Wednesday said late vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was a visionary leader who made a significant contribution towards the economic upliftment of the common people.
Recalling his close ties with the late Shekhawat, governor Mishra said Shekhawat had an influential personality and his actions were effective and led to the development of Rajasthan.
“He was an extraordinary personality. He was compassionate and fought for the rights of the marginalised sections of the society. He made a significant contribution towards the economic upliftment of the common people,” the governor said addressing a gathering at the Ravindra Manch here.
The function was organized by the Sundar Singh Bhandari Trust to honour senior legislators from the state. MLAS Suryakanta Vyas, Vishvendra Singh, Ramnarayan Meena, Parasram Mordia, Pratap Singh Singhvi, Nihalchand Meghwal and Hemaram Chaudhary were felicitated at the event. The governor said Shekhawat used to encourage his colleagues so that people with integrity and capability could forge ahead. He said by emulating the ideals of Shekhawat, we can pay true tribute to him. “Shekhawat’s thinking had depth and vision and he had laid the foundations for the institutional and infrastructural development of the state. He was able to forge good ties with people of differing ideologies and take everyone along,” Mishra said. The governor felicitated the legislators by presenting them with citations.
